GES is hiring for 2026-2027

We are currently looking to add special education paraprofessionals to our team for the upcoming school year (2026-2027)! If you (or someone you know) enjoy working with children, building relationships, and making a meaningful impact each day, we would love to connect.

Paraprofessionals play a vital role in supporting our students and staff, and we are proud of the positive, team-focused environment here at Gretna Elementary. If you’re interested in learning more, please reach out to Carissa Dickes (cdickes@gpsne.org) for additional information on how to apply.

Guardian Run

The Guardian Run is coming up on Saturday, April 25th. It starts at 8:35 AM at GHS. This is a cool event where all the elementary running clubs come together for one big event. We have about 520 runners signed up.

It takes a lot of volunteers to make this morning successful, and we would truly appreciate your help. Please take a look at the attached link and see if there is a spot where you might be able to help out. Any support you can provide is greatly appreciated!

Thank you for helping make this a great event!

Field Trip Chaperones

To continue prioritizing the safety of all students, we are implementing a new procedure for parent chaperones on field trips. Effective immediately, all parents who wish to chaperone a field trip will be required to complete a background check in advance. Classroom teachers will communicate upcoming field trip details well ahead of time to ensure there is ample opportunity for the background check process to be completed. All background checks will be completed and paid for through the district. Thank you for your partnership and support as we work together to maintain a safe and positive experience for our students.  If you have any questions please contact Mrs. Dickes.

PTO

GES Staff Appreciation Week is next week!  We have special treats in store for the staff, and we have fun days planned for students to join in the celebration.

Congratulations to those elected to PTO board positions for the 2026-27 school year:

President: Jess Samson

Vice President: Sarah Geiken

Secretary: Mallory Van Haute

Treasurer: Sarah Wegner

Volunteer Coordinator: Jill Johnson

We appreciate their willingness to step up and volunteer!  We still have a need for anyone and everyone who is willing to help on a committee.  Please contact gretnapto@gmail.com if you are willing to help make next year great for our kids and the staff who support them!

Art supplies

We have a wish list if you are interested in donating any art supplies.  Thank you for everything you do to make your kids' art experience what it is at GES!

GES Yearbook

Yearbooks are available for purchase at: buytheyearbook.com for $21 plus tax. The deadline to place your order is April 17.

***We will only be ordering 175 yearbooks for purchase, so once they are gone, they are gone!***

Nurse Notes

Please ensure that any classroom treats (birthday/star student) that are sent in have a nutrition label/ingredient list on them. Many places have the ability to provide one upon request. Unfortunately we are not able to let them be handed out if they do not have a label. Please email the nurse at afichter@gpsne.org with any questions.

Please keep an extra set of clothes in your child's backpack. Spills and accidents happen and students tend to be more comfortable in their own clothes.

Lunch time parking

If you come to have lunch with a student please pull all the way forward when parking out front.  It is important to leave room for Preschool dropoff.  We appreciate you help with ensuring they get dropped off safely and quickly
